My-Vegan-Conversion

"Vegan food guide" by~0Night-Shade0~

My conversion to veganism is one I’ve given considerable thought.  I’ve gone vegetarian in the past, but I know the health benefits to becoming vegan are leaps and bounds in comparison.  I’ll chronicle my journey, with experimental recipes (I’m no chef, so this’ll be interesting), great vegan books I’ve encountered, reviews of my culinary confections, and plenty of pictures to whet the pallet.  The benefit I look forward to most is the positive effect it will have my state of mind. My reasons for this life changing conversion are simple (but profound):  health in body and mind.  I, much to the dismay of many vegan heads out there, do not have a soft spot for animals.  Sorry folks.  I actually value human beings abundantly more.  I do not, however, advocate cruelty to animals, but they do not inspire me enough to not want to eat them.  A good steak is an incredibly edible peace of culinary masterpiece.  But, my health takes precedence.  So watch for future posts…a new stage in my life 😉

  1. SO interested to read this part of your blog… Well, all of your blog actually. But especially this part, if I may be honest. I have “played with” vegetarianism in the past, and have researched and thought long and hard about veganism as well. I am so interested in it, but not so sure about it. So I’m going to subscribe and follow your journey to learn from you! 🙂

    1. Hi Melissa! 🙂 My conversion is rather slow, since I’m realizing I’m having some health issues *because* of the vegan items I’ve been eating (my immune system is not taking too kindly to any foods that are bean derived like hummus and the like, to name a few).

So, I had to step back for a bit, re-asses and take care of those health concerns first. But I have not completely given up! Looks like i’ll have to take a rather different detour…one that I never expected. We shall see! But I have encountered some amazing too-good-to-be-true vegan products like vegan cream cheese, and the like! I’ll make sure to make a post on that…and many other things! I was sincerely hoping to get the bulk of my protein from nuts and beans, but it looks like I’ll have to find some other source, if these things are exacerbating my condition. But I will chronicle it all 🙂
